Rylen is a dedicated scholar of the wisdom of Wholistic Healthcare and Chinese Medicine. She has been an Amma Therapist and instructor of Chinese Medicine and alternative healthcare since 1990. Rylen graduated from San Francisco State University, Cum Laude, with a BA in Psychology. She continued her education at the New York College for Wholistic Health Education and Research & The Clayton School of Natural Healing where she studied wholistic health, European and Amma Therapy, herbs and nutrition. More recently in 2007 Rylen completed a 2-year study of 5-element theory and Chinese Medicine in an evolutionary context with Lonny Jarrett.

Rylen started teaching Amma Therapy, nutrition, Qigong, and wholistic medicine in 1993. She currently owns and directs The Wellspring School for Healing Arts in Boise, Idaho. She is a passionate instructor who is committed to The Wellspring’s continued excellence. Helping clients and students overcome disharmony and maintain optimum health. She is an active AOBTA (American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia) member, AOBTA Certified Instructor, current Registered Instructor committee chair and former AOBTA national Director of Education. She currently serves the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) as a subject matter expert and education development committee for Asian Bodywork Therapy and lives in Portland, Oregon. Rachael is a lifetime student dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and believes continuous learning is paramount to keeping an open mind and a fresh perspective. Her professional experience includes extensive time spent at the corporate level in the areas of management, marketing and communications, predominantly in the high tech sector. Rachael moved to Boise, Idaho in 2005, and discovered The Wellspring School for Healing Arts where she completed both the Amma and Wholistic Nutrition programs. Rachael is passionate about nutrition and conscious living as the requisite underpinnings of a healthy lifestyle. She is very excited to apply her business experience and partner with Rylen to continue to promote The Wellspring School as an educational resource to an even broader community base.

A Certified Nutritionist, Natural Foods Chef and Adjunct Faculty at Bastyr University, Jennifer promotes a delicious, integrative approach to nutrition to audiences and individuals. By introducing people to healthier nutritional options and explaining the chemistry and philosophy behind those choices, she empowers clients to develop lifelong, healthy, and conscious relationships with food. Jennifer holds a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition and Counseling from Bastyr University, a Graduate Certificate in Spirituality Health & Medicine and a Bachelor’s in Psychology. She trained at the School of Natural Cookery in Boulder, Colorado, one of the most respected schools of its kind in the nation. She also has extensive training in Ayurveda and whole foods preparation, and is licensed by the State of Washington as a Certified Nutritionist.

April has been passionate about Eastern culture, healing arts and nutrition since young.  She has practiced several forms of martial arts, t'ai chi, qigong and meditation since 1989.  Inspired, after her own radical lifestyle changes in her early 20's, April committed to finding a career that would encourage growth and life purpose in others and herself.  She found Amma Therapy and the richness and depth of Chinese medicine.

Since 1994, April has practiced and taught Amma Therapy at The Wellspring School For Healing Arts and currently serves as lead instructor.  She also teaches in the Wholistic Nutrition program and classes for the community.  An enthusiastic instructor, she challenges students not merely to learn techniques, but rather to embrace the holistic lifestyle that Amma embodies and to continue their own growth.

She helped co-found the therapy practice of Pulse Holistic Health, choosing to work with likeminded practitioners and in the community.  April offers services including: Amma Therapy, Holistic Nutrition and lifestyle guidance.

Recognizing that self-imporvement is fundamental to being able to serve others as a healthcare provider, she furthers her education continually.  April passionately believes that Chinese medicine and holistic healthcare are excellent avenues for wellbeing and the evolution of conciousness on the planet and she is ever grateful for the opportunity to participate in it.

Bill, an ordained Taoist priest, has been studying Chinese martial and healing arts since 1965. He specializes in Taijiquan, Tuina Chinese Bodywork, Qigong, and herbal medicine. Bill is a 20th-generation inner disciple of Grandmaster Chen Xiaowan. He studied traditional Chinese medicine in China at the Shanghai College of Medicine and the Beijing Olympic Training Center, and in the United States with Taoist Master Share K. Lew and Dr. Yu Da Fang. Bill is the Director of the Taoist Sanctuary of San Diego and the Dean of Allied Arts at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in California.

Kathy has been a stay-at-home mother of two boys for the past six years. The change from full-time office employee at a payroll company to household manager prompted her to learn how to budget, cook nutritious food, raise children with love and compassion, teach children at home, garden organically, and crochet. She has volunteered as an electronic record keeper for class enrollment for a women?s empowerment program, and works at the community garden. As Office Administrator at The Wellspring School for Healing Arts in Boise, Kathy hopes to help make the school a greater success. She waits eagerly for her time to become a student and learn even more about holistic nutrition and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Carla graduated from Boise State University in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Her subsequent move to Anchorage led to studies in meditation and yoga to counteract the stress of working in the publishing industry. A regular yoga practice combined with meditation provided a way to focus and calmly move through days that included work, caring for three young children and staying warm in the dark, cold winters of Alaska! She returned with her family to Boise in 2001 where she implemented the nationally affiliated Very Special Arts program through Idaho Parents Unlimited.


Carla graduated from The Wellspring School’s Amma Bodywork Therapy program in early 2008 and is currently working as an indepenent practitioner in Boise. She has continued continues her studies at The Wellspring including over 200 hours of assistant teaching at the school. She is thrilled to pass along the mind/body/spirit connection that Shen Qigong embodies and brings to her class the energy and health benefits that a regular Qigong practice provides.


CINDY LANGSTON

Cynthia J. Langston graduated from Idaho School of Massage Therapy in 1984 and has been at her practice ever since. Her area of expertise is Connective Tissue Bodywork, based on the work of Dr. Janet Travell in the area of myofascial pain and dysfunction. Additionally, the myofascial release and craniosacral techniques, are the key ingredients in a successful medical massage career spanning nearly a quarter century. Cynthia used these skills almost exclusively during the 8 years in a chiropractic setting working with acute injuries, whiplash and chronic pain. Additionally, two years in Boise State University’s Athletic Training program helped hone her skill with athletic injuries
In 1991 Cynthia developed and offered instruction in Connective Tissue Bodywork becoming a reliable source of manual Trigger point therapy in the Treasure Valley. In 1994 Cynthia joined Ruth R. Haefer, co-owning Idaho School of Massage Therapy, serving as Administrator and Director of Education. As one of the primary instructors at ISMT, she taught Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Professionalism, Record Keeping, Sports Massage, Spa Applications and 5 separate classes Connective Tissue Bodywork. As an avid athlete, Cynthia has enjoyed a variety of physical outlets, including soccer, taekwondo, sea kayaking, swing and ballroom dancing.

HOLLIE LEAVITT, M.S.

Hollie graduated from Brigham Young University in 2003, with a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology. She furthered her education at Boise State University, receiving a master?s degree in biology in 2006. While a student at Boise State, she taught anatomy and physiology labs to nursing and pre-medical students for three years, and also worked as a tutor for genetics. Hollie enjoys teaching students who are going into healthcare, because they are such kind and caring people. She loves to see her students succeed, and is committed to their learning.

 

Troy Lentell

Troy Lentell has spent most of his adult life studying and practicing martial arts including the Korean art of Hapkido and American Kenpo. In 2004 he met Bill Helm and began in-depth study of Chen Style Taijiquan. He currently studies and teaches Taiji under the guidance of his mentor Bill Helm who is an indoor disciple of Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang the standard bearer of the art. Troy enjoys sharing his passion for Taiji with others and helping others find their own passion.

Dr Brent Mathieu is a naturopathic and homeopathic physician in practice in Boise since 1992, and previously in Billings, MT from 1980 - 1991. He provides health care in harmony with Nature and Green Man wisdom. He integrates nutritional, herbal, manipulative and homeopathic therapies to provide individualized health care for children, women and men of all ages. He is in general naturopathic and homeopathic practice. He is a skilled health and lifestyle coach. He is certified in classical homeopathy by the Council for Homeopathic Certification and the Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians. He is co-owner/member of the Wholistic Therapy Center, LLC, which owns and manages an office building leasing offices to practitioners of alternative, holistic healing currently including massage therapists, counselors, mediators, and acupuncturists. He has been in leadership roles in professional associations, including Executive Director. Since 1992, he has been an instructor of Chair Massage, Pathology and Anatomy/Physiology at three different Boise massage therapy and Amma therapy programs.

Aaron Noleen first became interested in the energy contained within the human body in his teens. A simple exercise introduced him to the world of what we are capable of creating and the idea that energy (or Qi) is what truly determines the quality of our lives. Aaron’s first formal training with Qi was taking his Reiki I and II initiations in 1993 and 1995. In 1999, he graduated from The Wellspring School for Healing Arts and has been practicing Amma Bodywork Therapy ever since. Aaron spends much of his time teaching and assisting classes and clinics for The Wellspring as well as volunteering for various activities throughout the Valley. By attending continuing education classes, practicing Tai Chi, and meditation, Aaron strives to deepen his awareness of the energy that surrounds us all and is dedicated to using his experiences in a way that influences others in a positive direction.

MEREDITH OBENCHAIN, Dipl. ABT (NCCAOM)

Meredith graduated from the Amma Program in Boise in 2006. She worked part time at The Wellspring School and practiced at Crowell, Feeney and Associates until late 2007 when she and her family moved to Portland. She now she works at the GroundSpring Healing Center, P.C. in SW Portland. At GroundSpring she studied foot reflexology to compliment her Amma practice, although she admits most of her reflexology clients have switched over to Amma exclusively. Meredith was thrilled to reconnect with Rylen as both an assistant and instructor for the first Portland Amma group.

When not busy teaching or working at her practice, you might find Meredith out horseback riding, working with their young dog Porter, and spending time with friends and family. Meredith’s passion for animals has also fueled an interest in therapeutic practices for pets, something she does in her spare time.

Anna is a graduate of The Wellspring School for Healing Arts and a certified member of the AOBTA. She brings her enthusiasm and warmth to her bodywork treatments. She has a passion for food and nutrition that has been cultivated through her lifetime of experience with food from growing to cooking it. She works to share this knowledge with her clients to help bring new energy to their own nutrition. She is currently taking the Wholistic Nutrtion Program at the Wellspring School for Healing Arts and is enjoying the new perspectives on food that she is learning. Anna is also teaching several classes for the Amma Bodywork Program.

Maureen comes to the Wellspring School following a journey through different careers, exploring her nature to help others help themselves. Her passion for people spills into her goal to help people create healthy lives in body and spirit. Raised on the East Coast, Maureen found peace in Portland some 14 years ago. She takes advantage of getting out to the great outdoors as much as she can, whether it be for skiing, rafting or running. Maureen is immersed in the Amma Portland class, scheduled to finish in the Fall 2011. In the meantime, she will be supporting the Wellspring by spreading the word about the beneficial programs and opportunities it has to offer those enrolled in the program and the people surrounding them, whose lives they touch daily.
