WHOLISTIC NUTRITION PROGRAM
This 280 hour program will certify graduates in the principles of nutrition from both an Eastern and Western perspective. The Wellspring's first group began in May 2007 with incredible reception.  Space is limited so register now!   See "The Programs" pages for details.

BEGINS JANUARY 24th, 2009

AMMA BODYWORK THERAPY PROGRAM

This 1000 hour program will train students for career in wholistic healthcare, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Asian Bodywork Therapy.   This program enrolls only 12-16 students so register early. See "The Programs" pages for details.

ON-GOING CLASSES

RETURN TO KIDNEYS
Qigong helps students and practitioners develop greater kinesthetic awareness, strength, balance, and focus. Students learn several forms each with specific skills and benefits throughout the program.
15 Tuesdays: 1-2pm, $165 per segment or $12 drop in.


AMMA STUDENT CLINIC
Receive a supervised Amma Bodywork treatment from students in their final semesters of our 1,000-hour program. Treatments include: movement, dietary and herbal recommendations. 

Saturdays and some Wednesdays, by appointment; $25.

  INTENSIVES WITH RYLEN

  CONTEMPORARY PULSE DIAGNOSIS

  Rylen Feeney

  Students will learn the contemporary application of pulse diagnosis  based on Leon Hammer's writings from Dr. Shen's teachings.  This class will refine the fundamental principles of the traditional six positions and expand into greater depth with location and positions.  Rylen will cover in depth rate, rhythm, amplitude and intesity; husband/wife pulse, diaphragm, and other special pulses. This is an excellent opportunity for alumni to learn advanced skills in pulse diagnosis.

BUILDING A PRACTICE

April Crowell

This class is designed to teach the nuts and bolts of building a strong and successful practice.  Students will cover topics from marketing to taxes and will be required to create a detailed business packet including: advertising, office policies, HIPAA and other legal documents.

1,000 HANDS BUDDHA QIGONG

This powerful healing form of qigong is excellent at helping integrate mind, body and spirit. Practice of this form can help you rediscover your innate noble heart, and find deep relaxation and true happiness.

ETHICAL PRACTICE

TECHNIQUE & POINT LOCATION

This class will focus on honing techniques for the Amma Bodywork Practitioner. Great emphasis will be put on reviewing point locations, focus and intention, as well as, point combinations.  Excellent for CEU's and to refine and refresh your skills.

JADE WOMAN QIGONG

Jade Woman is a healing qigong form that addresses the specific needs of a woman's body. It focuses on increasing the circulation of blood and energy while lifting the spirits and harmonizing the emotions. Practice of the form reduces symptoms of various gynecological disorders. Not limited to women this class is excellent for men with Liver qi stagnation, pent up frustration or emotions.

CLASSIC CHINESE FORMULAS AND PATENT HERBS

Broaden your knowledge of Chinese Formulas in this weekend workshop. Rylen will cover a wide selection of classic and patent formulas for a myriad of patterns and indications, as well as, formula categories (i.e. settle shen, treat bi syndrome, expel wind, etc.). This is an excellent class to fulfill NCCAOM PDA requirements.

WHOLISTIC NUTRITION

This enthusiastic and interactive class helps participants gain an understanding of the importance of nutrition's fundamental role in a person's health and quality of life. Topics include the importance of whole organic, local, and seasonal foods. Learn the energetic qualities of foods and how they affect the body—from vegetables, grains, and legumes to animal products, tofu, and tempeh. Food samples and handouts throughout the class and a feast the final night!

October 4 & 5, 9-5pm
$280 students seeking credit

$210 public individual, $140 for retakes

CHEN STYLE T'AI CHI CHUAN
Bill Helm
This weekend workshop will begin Friday night with exercises in silk reeling and standing post Qigong. These are developmental exercises for generating Qi and learning how to move internally. Saturday and Sunday will be devoted to learning the 19-movement form of Chen T'ai Chi. This is a simplified form developed by grandmaster Chen Xiaowang to serve as a powerful introduction to the ancient Chen style T'ai Chi Chuan. Chen style is characterized by spiral movements and combines soft, energetic flow with sharp explosive power.

WHOLISTIC TREATMENT & PREVENTION OF COLDS & FLU

Learn simple home remedies and herbal formulas to use for the prevention and treatment of cold or flu. The class will also cover steps that can be taken to tonify the immune system.

ADDITIONAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE ASIAN BODYWORK THERAPIST
with Rylen Feeney, Dipl. ABT & CH (NCCAOM)
and Cynthia Langston, CMT
Students will learn a full basic Swedish massage.  Additional Asian bodywork techniques for spine, neck, shoulders, hips, low back and chest will be practiced. Finally, the class will cover some visceral, organ, breast and groin work.  This class is open to all bodywork therapists and is an excellent class to fulfill NCCAOM PDA and NCBTMB CE requirements. 
Total 30 hours for $330 or 15 for $180.

ASIAN FOUNDATIONS AND PRINCIPLES

This didactic lecture class introduces students to the founding principles of Chinese Medicine including: Taoist cosmology, Yin/Yang theory, Qi functions, Five Element Theory, Eight Principles, and the 72 Channel system. 

 

  COMPLEMENTARY TECHNIQUES
  Students will learn various complementary therapies 

  including Moxabustion, Fire Cupping and Gua Sha including their             indications and contraindications. Students also learn the use of ear seeds, magnetic press pellets, and the TDP lamp.

EAT TO LIVE

Add a new level to your nutritional knowledge for yourself or your practice. In this excellent class, we will begin by looking at nutrition's role in our life cycles from pregnancy and infancy, to teens, adults and elderly. We will cover the specific particular healing foods and diets including fasting, congees, and juicing, as well as, weight loss and sports performance nutrition.

FOOD IN THE TREATMENT OF DISHARMONY

This class covers the principles of a remedial diet then discusses the use of diet and food in treating Zang Fu patterns of disharmony.

HERBAL FIRST AID

This class is a great introduction to herbs and remedies that will expand your first aid cabinet. From simple formulas for the common cold to dealing with bee stings, sunstroke, burns, and bruises—we will also cover minor food poisoning, heartburn, gas, and bloating to skin and eye irritations, toothaches, and earaches. Discussion will also cover natural and noninvasive ways to relieve discomfort and reestablish well-being. Watch for upcoming dates.

HULU GONG QIGONG

Qigong exercise combines deep relaxation, meditation, breathing and movement to harmonize the body, mind and emotions. Hulu Gong maintains the body's immune system--It's nature's way to get your "flu shot"!

WESTERN KINESIOLOGY

Students learn the skeletal and muscular systems of the body.  The class covers muscle origin and insertion and palpation of bones and muscles, allowing students to gain greater understanding of the human form.
